Future Onions |
It’s hard to believe it’s already March. The days are getting longer and the birds are starting their morning serenade. Ah, Spring will be here before we know it.
The hope of Spring is now alive and well in my basement too. One week after starting my first set of seeds – I have sprouts.
Nearly all the onions have germinated. I know most gardeners say onions are easy but I’ve struggled with them. Fingers crossed. So far, so good.

Future Brussels Sprouts & Cabbage |
It appears about 3/4 of the Brussels sprouts are happening and 3/4 of the cabbage are emerging as well.
And of course, nothing is happening with the eggplant. Oh, eggplant you are the bane of my seed starting existence. (Fist shake to the sky.) I am holding out hope at least one of them will sprout but it’s not looking too promising.
Whatever happens, I’m having fun and that’s what matters. Next weekend I start a few of my favorite things – peppers, peppers, peppers.
Do you start seeds? How is it going for you? Any tips for getting eggplant to germinate?
