Hello and welcome! I’m Alicia. I’m a business owner, wife, cat mom, and most importantly, a passionate home cook. Here on Local Food Rocks, I share my kitchen, gardening, and food adventures.
My mission is to inspire you to see food as more than fuel but rather an experience that connects us to the land and each other. My recipes are simple and focus on seasonal ingredients. I also share kitchen tips and product recommendations. And, since I also love to explore and travel, I occasionally share restaurant reviews.
I was the culinary columnist for the Tribuna Newspaper, a monthly trilingual print and online publication in Connecticut.
I’ve been a featured guest on WTNH’s CT Style and Good Morning Connecticut.

My husband, Renato, is my partner in crime (and my photographer). As you can tell, he’s the rocker of this duo. We are pretty much always together and are always ready to eat some good food and tell a good story.
Why the “Local” in Local Food Rocks?
We try to buy ingredients made or grown as local/regional as possible to where we live.
First and foremost, it’s fresher, and you can taste the difference. Second, sourcing ingredients locally allows us to know the farmer and how our food was grown/raised/produced. Third, it also keeps our money local and supports people directly where we live/work/stay.
This isn’t all or nothing, and it isn’t about being perfect. We do the best we can within our budget. And hey, we still enjoy tropical fruit, nuts, olive oil, chocolate, and coffee (among other things). One important thing to keep in mind is that “local” is wherever you are – so when we travel, “local” changes with the location.
