Beyond the CityCenter Danbury Farmers’ Market, I’m very excited to share that there is an awesome alternative if you still want farm-fresh goodness without having to drive to another town.
Maitri Farm a small sustainable farm in Amenia, NY will offer a CSA pick-up at Tarrywile Park in Danbury on Tuesdays from 4:30pm-6:30pm starting in June. Ah, awesome, right?
The Maitri Farm CSA goes from June 2nd through October 27th for a total of 22 weekly distributions. The vegetable CSA costs $625, the Egg CSA, which gives you a dozen eggs a week, is $130. If you do both CSA programs the cost is $745. That works out to $33.86 a week. (Yes, I did the math.) That’s kind of a great deal.
For those of you in lower Fairfield County, Maitri Farm also does a CSA pickup at Kaia Yoga in Greenwich on Saturdays from 9-11am and at Kaia Yoga in Westport on Tuesdays from 5:15-7:15pm.
Maitri Farm is located on 106 acres in Amenia, NY. It is named after the first of the four sublime states taught by the Buddha. Sometimes translated as “love” or “loving-kindness,” it is the disposition of love pervading in all directions and embracing all beings.
