Rockin’ The Taste of Danbury

287

What happens when you mix a local chef and local beer with a few local food bloggers? You get a seriously fun and delicious Block Party at the Taste of Danbury.

I was honored when Chef Plum of Plum Luv Foods invited me to participate in his block party. I was among some fantastic local food folks including Sarah of Sarah’s Cucina Bella and Jeanette Chen of Jeanette’s Healthy Living.

I rocked a German Horseradish Coleslaw demo in honor of Oktoberfest. Sarah showed us how to make a simple, versatile Kale Chimichurri and Jeanette made my mouth water with two amazing recipes – Spicy Korean Quesadillas and Spicy Korean BBQ Sliders with Asian Slaw and Kimchi Sauce. Williams-Sonoma Danbury supplied us with all the tools we needed for the day. And, I admit, I now covet the commercial series Kitchen Aid food processor they supplied for the demos. (Nope, no one paid me to say that I just really loved it.)

Two Roads Brewing Co. offered penny beer tastings, with the money earned going to support Danbury’s First Night festivities. Plus, there were giveaways from local cutlery company ErgoChef.

Next year, I fully expect things are going to be even bigger.
