By now most folks know about local farm CSA programs. You pay up front for your share and in return you get a weekly batch of fresh vegetables and fruits throughout the growing season. Well, get ready for something a little different.
Millstone Farm in Wilton just announced their first ever summer Pig CSA. As part of the CSA you’ll receive a share of one of their heritage breed Tamworth/Large Black crosses, butchered and wrapped.
These local pigs are given space to roam and express their natural rooting instincts and enjoy a diet supplemented by garden scraps.
The cost of a share is $8 per pound and will include approximately 20 to 25 pounds of various cuts, including roast, chops, sausage and bacon. Shares will be ready by late June or July and a $40 deposit is required.
Membership is limited and will be on a first come, first serve basis, so don’t wait! Email katie@millstonefarm.org to learn more or have your name added to the list.
Sweeet! Just emailed her -thanks, Alicia!
