In a post today by CT Bites I was excited to learn about a local food business start-up in Fairfield County, The Milkman Co. in Newtown. Yup, it’s owner, Ed Hartz, wants to revive the tradition of the milkman. How cool is that!
According to the post, The Milkman Co. only sells products from farms that adhere to a sustainable agricultural model and the owner spent the last year establishing relationships with a few select family farms in Connecticut and the Hudson Valley.
They deliver: 1%, 2%, whole, skim, chocolate and raw milk (yes, you see that correctly, raw milk) as well as heavy cream and half and half. In addition they offer: drinkable yogurt from Ronny Brook and Millborne Farms, flavored and plain yogurts, ice cream from Ronny Brook and Wildowsky Dairy, eggs, cheese, butter, bread from Fairfield Bread Company and Wave Hill Bread, BoraBora Fruit Juices from the Hudson Valley, and local meats including beef, bacon and sausage, as well as packaged meats from Nodine’s Smokehouse.

I SO am going to check this out!
