Earth Day 2010

687

I’m involved in lots of fun Earth Day events this year. This post is shameless self-promotion to tell you all about it.

Monday, April 19th
6-9pm
Old Oak Restaurant
Danbury, CT
Earth Day Dinner by Chef Michael Bick of Somethings Fishy Catering in Bethel, CT. The hubby and I were going to attend because one look at the menu made us hungry! Then, Chef Bick asked if we would speak for a couple of minutes about the things we do in helping to promote local, organic and sustainable food. Needless to say I am honored! This 2nd annual event is a way to celebrate Chef Bick’s commitment to local, organic, sustainable and delicious food. It’s a way for guests to connect with their food, its source, and the traditions associated with it. Local farmer John Holbrook of Holbrook Farm is the featured speaker.

Thursday, April 22nd
11am to 2pm
Post University
Cyber Cafe
I’ll be at the Post University Earth Day celebration this year. I’ll have free goody bags, free food samples, and a raffle. The raffle winner will receive local food goodies courtesy of fellow local food blogger Kaela of Local Kitchen, a Food Inc. DVD and the book Food Rules by Michael Pollan. So if you work or study at Post be sure to come by the festivities and say hello!
And finally…
Saturday, April 24th
10am to 4pm
Ridgefield, CT

It’s going to be a great day! Meet a plethora local, sustainable and organic vendors and feast at an all-you-can-eat BBQ with a portion of the proceeds going to Chefs Collaborative. In fact one of the local farms featured on my web show The Natural Princess will be there. I’ll have local food info and free goody bags. Plus, I’ll be holding another raffle! The raffle winner will receive a Food Inc. DVD and the book Food Rules by Michael Pollan.

Do you have any special plans for Earth Day?

  1. Very busy! Very cool! I'd love a bag of Kaela's goodies and I love the name of Somethings Fishy!

  2. Often I attend the event at New Morning in Woodbury. The Ridgefield event sounds good, I'll try and stop by. Thanks for the link to the Chef's Cooperative, I see some good info there.

  3. Thanks for sharing all the events in our area – I'd not even heard of all that is going on. I'm going to try to make it to the event at Nature's Temptations.

  4. I know … it's hard not to keep Kaela's goodies all for myself.

Chef Maureen, I think Chefs Collaborative is right up your alley, glad I could connect you to it.

If it's a success I hope Nature's Temptations makes it a tradition. So, tell your friends about it too! I hope I see you there!
