Winter Farm Markets

254

Yes, there are winter farmers’ markets in Connecticut. Okay, so maybe you won’t find as much fresh produce in the winter as you would in the summer … BUT … you can find greenhouse/hydroponic grown lettuce mixes, honey, maple syrup, local meats, eggs, cheeses, baked goods and more. One of my favorite farms, Riverbank Farm, will be at the Fairfield Winter Farmers’ Market which is across from the Fairfield train station. My good friends from Brookside Farm II will be at the Lichfield Hills Indoor Market which is held at the Litchfield Community Center twice a month. Visit the Connecticut Dept. of Agriculture website for the complete listing. Wherever you live, go online to Local Harvest to find info on winter farmers’ markets near you. There’s still local food around. Kinda makes winter a little more cheery.
