OK, so I have been debating about whether to write about Presdent-elect Obama’s choice for Secretary of Agriculture – Tom Vilsack. I’m not one to talk politics and as Jennifer Maiser, editor of the blog Eat Local Challenge, recently wrote: “I feel that the choice to eat locally crosses party lines, and have seen proof of that theory. But the choices being made at the top really do affect the power that the sustainable food movement has as a whole.” Personally, I am not very happy about it, but I am trying to remain optimistic. Here’s one response from sustainable food movement leader Michael Pollan on NPR.org. It’s worth a listen.
