This weekend I got the chance to do one of my favorite Fall activities – go apple picking. We went to Averill Farm in Washington, CT. This orchard has been in the Averill family for over 250 years. They have many kinds of apples, even some heirloom varieties. It was a crisp, sunny day and I picked all the apples I could carry. I even indulged in one of their sinful apple cider donuts! It was a perfect Fall afternoon. And, upon request of my dinner guests, I baked apple crisp that evening for dessert.
