The State of Connecticut just put out a couple of cool new brochures on one of my favorite Fall activities – Apple Picking! The first brochure is a Guide to Connecticut’s Apple Growers & Retailers with info on local farms which grow apples. The other brochure is Apple Varieties and Their Uses with a description of the most common CT Grown apple varieties and a neat chart showing which are best suited for baking, eating, etc. They even give a handful of apple recipes. Saying goodbye to summer is always a little tough, but I say bring on the scents and colors of Fall. I’ve got my basket ready and a hankering for crisp, juicy apples!
